This week I have the very first day where all 4 of my children will be in school for a total of 2 1/2 hours. I'm hoping that means that over the next coming weeks I will begin to get a bit more done. I'm planning on fitting in both more time working on this site and some pilates (because though I'm not as fat as a house yet, I'm close to at least being a small airstream trailer and I'd like to put a halt on moving up to being a full sized RV or larger). We are also ove the next few weeks deciding if we will stay in this house for a bit longer or try again to see if we can find a new house to rescue. One house that we've looked at recently is in need of a much more modern makeover, so I've been looking at things like modern casement windows & doors, prefab additions, opening up walls and ceilings, dividing space, concrete & glass, mixing modern and classic, old and new, what we can do if we stick to a house like this one or seek out something a bit more a-typical for our town. What I'd really love to do eventually is just find a lot and build a whole new house, super modern, possibly prefab. I've been designing houses in my head to help go to sleep since I was a child, so someday I'd love to really build one, but for now it seems like building a house is kind of like buying a cute little puppy and not going to pound, not rescuing a dog that needs our help.
I've dropped in a video at the bottom of a prefab that I love, Jens Risom's house on Block Island (via the lovely Dwell) and a snippet of the house above.
