Kaufmann Mercantile

Kaufmann Mercantile

Have I mentioned this before? If not, I have no idea why. If I had to pick one dream shop in the whole world to live in, this might be it. Kaufman Mercantile is oh so fabulous in so many ways. The Library of Essays is superb, as are the products in the online shop. It will take awhile to go through everything, but it's worth it. If I were to list everything I love, need, want, dream of, I'd be here all day. And, the list grows constantly because new arrivals pop up every week, every Wednesday & Sunday to be exact.

Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa

Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa

This is the place if you want to get away, but not too far away- think country peace without having to give up the modern amenities. For those of us around NYC, the Hudson Valley offers a beautiful place for an escape, but it's really a great destination for anyone, even if you're not a quick car ride away. Recently, while looking at a new hotel in The Catskills (see below), my oldest, upon seeing the photos, said he had to go. And then when I told him there would be no TV or internet, his tune quickly changes. Buttermilk Falls, however, offers everything for everyone. There's space enough even for a family of 6, amenities, activities, a spa,  a farm, lovely food and, yes, even WiFi.

The Graham & Co Hotel

The Graham & Co Hotel

So, if you really do want to get away, this could be the spot. Designed for a true weekend away, The Graham & Co gives you all that the Catskills has to offer including solitude wrapped up in a bit of Brooklyn-born style. This lovely hotel features sparse, but stylishly modern rooms outfitted with Tivoli radios, some with kitchenettes, offers an artesian spring fed pool, free bikes & bonfires and a whole lot of lovely nature.

The Stromer ST1 E:Bike

The Stromer ST1 E:Bike

These are not the bikes you'll find at The Graham. This is a whole 'nother world of bikedom. The Stromer ST1 is an E:Bike, as in E-lectric and it's pretty awesome. Availability is still a bit limited still in the US (check here for dealers), but in it's natural state, the Stromer is fully customizable to suit your bike commuting/riding needs- be it motor, frame, component, style or comfort variants. It has 4 separate riding modes, a gearless hub motor and the battery can be easily charged on or off the bike.
