{mini}things we love: Square One Kids

We were recently given the opportunity to try out the Easy PlayTown Set from Square One Kids If you haven't seen their products yet Square One Kids offers eco-friendly, reversible playhouses, castles, and "cities" made from recycled materials. They offer both full-sized playhouses and smaller play sized Playtown models. Our kit incudes the 3 Playtown models A, B & C (castle, house & barn) in a set. All of the little buildings come flat packed for easy shipping and easy storage, are made of cardboard and can be assembled with either side out, making them reversible. The packing box that the set arrived in folded out to a little color-in street scene, perfect to stack the building around for a ready-made neighborhood. The set retails for $29.00.

Directions for folding are included but you won't need them. The little buildings are super easy to slot together and are ready to go in seconds. Some people may prefer to decorate before assembly, but you can just as easily decorate after (we did both). We started with the barn and it was super sturdy once together, so really easy to decorate without collapsing or sliding around too much. My daughter crayoned, glitter glued and tossed it around the room without it loosing shape. After a week of being knocked off the table and kicked around the room by her brothers its still looking good actually. The size is perfect for playtime, either tabletop or on the floor. They are super easy for little ones to carry around on their own and can easily be unfolded to store. The large playhouses look like a fantastic option for an indoor playhouse that doesn't have to take over a huge chunk of your house. And I love that they can be decorated to suit your or your child's preferences. When you're done with it just flatten and recycle. Super big plus. With summer coming up these would be a great do and play project. I've included a gallery of images from Square One Kids of a variety of decorated options, just so you don't think ours is a typical example of the finished project. I'll post our other 2 decorated models once they're all done. Vist their site for more details.
