A few months ago, I had a very exciting email telling me about the August release of the 2014 edition of The World Almanac for Kids. Very exciting because we are the very happy owners of 2 of the previous editions. My 2 oldest children discovered the Almanacs in their school library and started checking them out often enough that I bought them their very own. So, when I had an email telling me a new one was on its way I jumped on it and asked for a review copy. I cannot tell you how happy everyone was when I found out that yes, our very own complimentary copy of the 2014 World Almanac for Kids would be arriving before it's official release. It arrived just before me moved, so I haven't been able to write anything about it until now. First I want to say that every single member of our family LOVES these books. My 2 youngest love to look at the pictures, my 2 oldest (6 & 8) adores them. They sleep with them, travel with them, take them in the car even for the 3 minute drive to school. The 2013 and 2014 volumes were in my most important, must personally hand carry myself tub when we moved last week. They love these books that much. In fact, my son took the 2014 edition to school today as his choice for favorite book read over the summer.
When The World Almanac for Kids 2014 arrived, both boys did super happy dances and fought over who would read it first. We went with a first shared look (to prevent blood shed) then timed turns. They both carefully checked through to see what was new and both loved the new edition as much as the several previous editions that they have read. I'm assuming we'll be buying 2015 when it's released next year. They love the books because the pictures are great, the information is amazing with facts about everything. They learn so much and really do read them every day. I love them because they LOVE to read them and read them over and over and over. I can't recommend The World Almanac for Kids 2014 (or any previous version for that matter) highly enough. Some of the covered include art, weather, museums, sports, world nations, U.S. history, animals, sports, fashion, movies, and television. There really is something for everyone. The book is filled with kid-friendly fun facts, games, puzzles, maps and even hints on writing, doing great research and test taking. Whether for just for some reading fun or a great homework helper, The World Almanac for Kids 2014 is a fabulous addition to your child's home library.
