We have just moved into a new house that needs oodles of work. In the week that we've been here we've had the electricians here for 2 days installing new electrical service to the house and back 4 times for a long list of crazy electrical mess that's popped up almost daily. The next stage of our "electrical" work is replacing the lighting. I think almost every light needs to be replaced. There's only 1 interior light that I can think of that doesn't need to go. Even most of the outside lights need replacing. So, we are starting with the big 3, dining room, kitchen and upstairs hall, and moving through the house from there. We are trying to keep costs down on everything, when possible, because this house needs such a vast amount of well, stuff, from new lights to eventually, a few new rooms. I'm looking for super cool lighting with a super fabulous price. Here are a few of the fun light's I've been looking at over the past few days:
IKEA, HEKTAR. I have wanted this one since I first saw it. I love its's size and shape. At 19" it has impact and for $69, it's a bargain. This is likely going to be our new dining room light, in lieu of the crystal chandelier we've had in our past 2 dining rooms.
West Elm, Contour Double Sconce. We will be redoing all 3 bathrooms eventually and this sconce will be in at least one of them. I'm starting at the top and working down and I think it would work perfectly with the plan I have for our upstairs bathroom. There's also a single version that might just work for our first floor powder room. I love the shape, simplicity and the solidity of the design.
Serena & Lily Beacon Sconces in carrot & ultramarine. These are super cute and exactly what I was looking for for my children's room. They are currently creatively placed into one room. Because of the sloped ceiling, bunk bed, I've been looking for a good way to add some lighting without going for a traditional overhead light. I was considering an overhead cage light, but this is perfect. It might also be a good option for our basement bathroom.
Serena & Lily, Marmont Pendant. I've mentioned this one before. I really, really like it and it's an option for either the dining room or the upstairs hall. Let's just say, it's an option for anywhere I think I can work it in...
